Prime Big Deal Days is Amazon's second Prime-only sale of the year. It started in 2022 as an "early access" event and has settled into a two-day October fixture. In 2026 it runs October 6–7. Most deals require a Prime membership. If you are not a member, Amazon offers a 30-day free trial, and you can cancel before it renews.
How it compares to July Prime Day and Black Friday
- July Prime Day is the bigger event with more categories on sale.
- Prime Big Deal Days is Amazon's opening move for the holiday season. Prices on Amazon devices (Echo, Fire TV, Kindle) usually match what they will be on Black Friday. On third-party electronics, October prices are often close to November prices but not always the floor.
- Black Friday / Cyber Monday still wins for TVs, laptops and gaming consoles. If you can wait seven weeks for those, wait.
A useful rule: buy Amazon-brand devices, small appliances, headphones and household staples in October. Hold big-ticket TVs and laptops for November unless the October price already beats last year's Black Friday.
The three kinds of deals
- Lightning Deals. Limited time (usually a few hours) and limited quantity. A progress bar shows how much is claimed. These are where the real lows appear, and they die fast.
- Invite-only deals. For high-demand items at very low prices, Amazon lets you request an invitation before the event and picks who gets to buy. Request early; it costs nothing.
- Event-wide deals. Regular discounts that last the full two days. No rush, but no surprises either.
How to prepare (10 minutes, one week before)
- Make a list first. The event is designed to make you buy things you did not plan to buy. Write down the three to five items you actually need, with the price you would pay.
- Check the price history. For each item, look at what it cost in the last 90 days. If the "deal" price is the same as August's price, it is not a deal. We record daily prices for every product we list; the offer page shows what we have seen.
- Add items to your cart now. During the event, Amazon shows a price-drop notice on cart items.
- Set alerts. Our Telegram bot lets you type
/alert airpodsand get a message the moment a matching deal is published. Free, no account. - Compare with Walmart and Target. Both run competing sales the same week, and both sell to non-members. Sometimes the same product is cheaper without Prime.
What we do during the event
Our fetch cycle drops from every 10 minutes to every 5, Lightning Deals are marked as "may have ended" after 6 hours, and we open a dedicated page at /prime-big-deal-days with only the offers that pass our discount filter (25% off or more for Amazon event deals).
